School's Out: An Asteroid is Coming for Earth!
COLUMBUS (AP) – NASA officials have just confirmed the suspicions put forth by researchers at the University of Cambridge’s Institute of Astronomy: there is an asteroid on a trajectory to hit Earth by March 23rd, 2025. We have received a press release from the Office of the President of the United States, which explains that the global superpowers have been aware of the asteroid for about 6 weeks, but lines of communication are flakey due to the tensions of the Ukrainian and Israeli conflicts. However, it is unlikely that just a few large countries will have the resources and manpower to take out this asteroid. This is going to require the nations of the world to finally be united in their fight to protect humanity. From the governments that we contacted, most are attempting to organize their people and resources to hopefully come to the table and work together.

About the Chair
Hello! My name is Danny Zolp, and I am a freshman in Computer Science at Ohio State. Throughout high school and at OSU, I have been interested in technology, logistics, and especially physics, which is what inspired me to create this committee. I can’t wait to see how all of our countries can bring their resources to the table to *hopefully* stop this asteroid from destroying Earth. While my doomsday (finals week) might be a little further out than yours, I hope that we can all have a good time at this 2025 OSUMUN conference. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at zolp.1@osu.edu!

P.S., Please do some research on what your country can bring to the table, whether its resources, manpower, or ideas, as passing a unanimous resolution to merely “nuke the asteroid” is not going to save the world.
