HaMered HaGadol: The Great Jewish Revolt
This committee deals with the Great Jewish Revolt, or the First Jewish-Roman War. It will have strong political tensions between factions and different desired outcomes, though you will all seek to free Judea from Roman rule. Will you win a military victory over the empire? Will you keep your state together through strong ideological divides? Only time will tell. L'Geulat Tzion!
About the Crisis Director: Yossi Berkowitz is a third-year student majoring in economics and political science. He actively researches international relations, policy, and law. He has written on proportionality in international law, on terrorism as a concept and in practice, and on treaty agreements in correspondence with foreign ambassadors.
Yossi is excited to run this committee this year. He’s read a lot about Jewish history and the beginning of the diaspora with the Roman exile, as well as the Jewish-Roman Wars. He has also assisted in archeological work of the Second Temple period, which is when this committee takes place. He’s looking forward to directing the historical crisis committee and is hopeful you are as well!
