The Second Republic of the United States
It is March 2033, and the United States is in complete disarray. The 2032 Presidential Election was inconclusive; between claims of voter fraud and intimidation, the public has little faith in the reported results. Following dozens of ballots within the House of Representatives and the Senate to select a President and Vice-President, respectively, no candidate has received even a simple majority. Calls to dissolve our current Constitution were rampant, thus leading to our contemporarr and rather exceptional situation: a Constitutional Convention. As delegates to the convention, your task is to draft a new Constitution, one that addresses today’s hot-button political issues and creates institutions that hopefully prevents government dysfunction. The fate of the 2nd Republic of America rests in your hands. What will you decide?
About the Chair: Hey y’all! My name is Tyler Littlejohn and I have the honor of serving as the Chair of Rising from the Ashes: Building the 2ndAmerican Republic. I am a third year at Ohio State, double majoring in Public Affairs and Geography, with a potential minor in Korean. I hope to pursue a career working within the intersection of law, public finance, and housing policy. While at OSU, I have served in several capacities including as a University Senator, the former Finance Director of the Collegiate Council on World Affairs, the former Chief of Staff for OSUMUN, and as one of the head delegates of the travelling Model United Team. Outside of classes and work, I enjoy reading, hanging out with my cat, Muffin, and trying new coffee shops. I look forward to working with you all at OSUMUN 2024!
